Up to two-thirds of childhood cancer survivors experience physical, emotional and other long-term side effects of their cancer treatments. Most remain unaware of their health risks and unfamiliar with how to reduce them. Children's Hospital created our Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program in 2009 to serve this at-risk population.
“Having gone through cancer as a child and survived is not enough. We need our children to thrive as adults. The importance of this program is so high and the effort to run the program is great, but the funding to support programs like this is short of the need. Each and every contribution is funding the quality and potential success of our children’s futures,” said Dr. Gates, pediatric hematologist/oncologist at Children's and physician director of the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program.
A gift to our Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program will allow us to provide essential services to more survivors in the years to come.
Due to advances in cancer treatments, about 85 percent of children diagnosed with cancer now survive. Each year throughout the Valley, approximately 1,000 of these brave survivors need services offered by our Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program. Our program currently has the resources to manage as many as 350 patients annually.

We believe deeply in the power of philanthropy to save children's lives. When you donate to Children's, your investment is helping to fund lifesaving technology, advance clinical services, provide a safety net for children with little or no private medical insurance, and create a healing environment that enriches the experience of our patients and their families.
