Volunteering at Valley Children's Hospital

Volunteers are at the very heart of Valley Children’s providing crucial support services that are vital to the hospital and the well-being of its patients. Each year, more than 500 Valley Children’s volunteers, ranging in ages from 13 to more than 90, donate their time and energy to support our mission to provide high quality comprehensive health care to children regardless of their ability to pay.

Volunteer Commitment

Volunteers will be asked to make an initial commitment of six months of service and volunteer once a week for a two to three hour shift, on a set day and time. For more information, please see the requirements section of the site.

Not able to make this commitment? Individuals or groups who want to offer support on a one-time or infrequent basis may participate in our “Big Hearts for Little Hands” program. Please explore the Groups and Organizations link for additional information and creative ideas to help our children.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide hours for Court Appointment Community Service.  Please contact Hands On Central California for assistance at (559) 237-3101 or toll free: (866) 476-7787

Steps to becoming a volunteer

Step 1 - Check your schedule - You must be able to volunteer for six consecutive months on a weekly schedule.   Visit the Volunteer Opportunities page for a listing of assignments that are offered at Valley Children's, as well as shift times.

Step 2 - Review our requirements, gather immunization records and provide proof of a valid PPD skin test (administered and read within the last 12 months)

Step 3 - Download,  print and complete the Information Sheet from the website. Completed Information Sheets can be mailed or emailed to the Volunteer Services Department.

Step 4 - A Volunteer Coordinator will contact you regarding program openings that match your interests and availability. Please allow two to three weeks for this step in the process, as our coordinators are working diligently to identify the optimal placement just for you.
