Western Milling Donates $100K to West Expansion

Western Milling Quality Feeds, a Goshen-based producer of livestock and companion animal feed, recently donated $100,000 to support the west expansion and renovation project at Children’s Hospital Central California.

The gift was made possible through the leadership of Children’s Foundation Board Member Nina Kruse and spouse Kevin, whose family has operated Western Milling and its founding companies for over 75 years. Motivated by the ongoing Campaign for Children’s fundraising initiative, Mrs. Kruse secured the company’s gift to help Children’s Hospital meet the ever-expanding need for advanced pediatric healthcare in the Valley.

With a long history in the Central Valley, many of Western Milling’s employees have personally experienced the high levels of care offered at Children’s Hospital. In fact, 2011 Kids Day Ambassador Chelsea Dunn’s father is a Western Milling employee.

“Our hope is that this donation will inspire others to give, as well,” said Mrs. Kruse. “Children’s Hospital has provided incredible health care to the kids of Central California for nearly 60 years. Many of our employees and their children have benefited from this care. By supporting ongoing hospital expansion efforts, together we can ensure that Children’s has all of the resources it needs for the next 60 years and beyond.”

Western Milling’s donation has been designated to support the recently opened Paramount Farms Plaza, a 60,000 square foot addition to the Hospital’s critical care areas. Ongoing expansion and renovation will continue into the Spring of 2012, and the hospital has set a fundraising goal of $3.1 million to support the project.

Fundraising for the west expansion is part of the larger Campaign for Children’s initiative. To date, the Hospital has raised $40 million towards its $42 million fundraising goal, which will also help support The Guilds Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Endowment, the Willson Heart Center, and the Endowment for Excellence.
